Kasturben and Premchandbanevi marriage
As a memory, Sobhag has a picture of himself (First one) taken at the age of 7 in one of their relative’s wedding which took place in the backyard of their house. In 1958, Harkhubhai’s (28) family (his father’s sister’s son) moved from Nairobi to Meru, to join in their business. On 11.01.1965, at the age of 35, Harkhubhai passed away suffering from Cancer. After Nairobi, he was taken to London for his treatment. It was very rare that the patients were sent to London for treatment during those days.
Sobhag was touring in India with the other fellows from his boarding when he received the sad news of his cousin’s death. Jayantibenevi came to meet him with the news at the railway station in Indore.
In 1977, they received a Quit Notice in the shop, the whole family had to move to Mombasa, as there was no one to earn at that time and cost of living was much less in Mombasa compared with elsewhere.
