SAL certifies Singapore`s public documents directly by apostille for a fee of S$10.70 (including GST) per document. Please note that if the public document is a computer-generated document, SAL will not apostille these documents until they have been certified by the issuing department that issued the computer-generated document. This certificate of attestation / certificate of legalization / apostille only confirms the authenticity of the signature and the capacity of the person who signed the public document and, where applicable, the identity of the seal or stamp bearing the public document. A document intended for use in a Contracting State no longer needs to be legalized at the respective foreign embassy or consulate in Singapore, but may be submitted directly to the foreign addressee after the document has been certified by Apostille by SAL. Singapore is a party to the 1961 Hague Convention on Exemption from Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (the “Hague Convention”). The relevant local law giving effect to the Hague Convention is the Apostille 2020 Act. It is not necessary to be present at SAL in person for your documents to be apostilled. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore (MFA) legalizes documents issued by the Singapore government (e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.).
