The Lawyer Referral Service (“LRS”) is a program offered by the Alabama State Bar Association to help the public find a lawyer who can be hired to meet their general legal needs. Lawyers participating in the ASB Lawyer Referral Service agree to charge no more than $50 for an initial 30-minute consultation. After the initial consultation, the potential client and the mediated lawyer will negotiate fees for the services required. Alabama Legal Help (operated by Legal Services Alabama) and the Alabama Access to Justice Commission website contain information and self-help forms on a variety of legal matters, including family law, public benefits, housing, consumer issues, health law, seniors` rights, immigration and guardianship. You can get basic information about your legal rights, where to get legal help and help, and learn about other community resources.
